Scotland Tamils Raise (STR) is an Unincorporated Organisation based in Scotland that operates as a non-profit, non-political, voluntary, and charitable community body. Its core purpose is to create a united, supportive, and progressive community that empowers Tamil people in Scotland while welcoming individuals from all cultures, languages, and backgrounds.

What is STR’s policy on equality and inclusion?

As mandated by our constitution, STR operates without any discrimination based on caste, religion, gender, nationality, region, or political affiliation. We provide an inclusive platform open to all cultures.

Who is eligible for membership?

Membership is open to individuals aged 16 and above who support the aims of the organisation and reside in Scotland. Members have the right to attend and vote at General Meetings, elect Trustees, and participate in all official activities.

How does STR support asylum seekers, refugees, and students?

STR delivers dedicated community welfare programs, offering guidance, advocacy, integration support, and educational mentoring for Tamil asylum seekers, refugees, and university students navigating life in Scotland.

How is Scotland Tamils Raise governed?

STR is governed by an elected Board of Trustees (consisting of 4 to 8 Trustees elected at the Annual General Meeting for 3-year terms) and key Office Bearers including Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Where are events hosted?

Events are rotated across major Scottish cities including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Stirling, and Dundee to ensure accessibility for all regions.
